GLENAMADDY Equestrian Centre played host to the second round of the 1.35m Gain Alltech Grand Prix Series last Thursday week, September 24th. A strong field of 39 combinations lined out in a bid to claim their share of the €4,000 prize fund, with 22 delivering clear rounds in the opening round to progress to the jump-off.
Taking the win on this occasion was Cathal Daniels on the Sandra Duffy/Ireland Horse Sport and Leisure Ltd-owned Annaghmore Beach Cruise. Late to go in the draw, Daniels delivered a clear in 40.02 seconds.
Annaghmore Beach Cruise is a 15-year-old gelding by Beach Ball and out of the Cruising-sired Annaghmore Sonieke. This combination has been in form of late, claiming fifth in the Derby in Cavan a few weeks prior. This is a new ride for Daniels; the gelding was campaigned by Lee Carey up until July this year. Under Carey’s command, the gelding was consistently placed at Grand Prix level.
Winner of the 1.35m Grand Prix in Cavan with Lisboy Emerald, Junior rider Cian McMunn was back in the line-up at Glenamaddy. This time riding Oberon Van’t Lohof, he took the runner-up spot when finishing with a clear round in 42.21.
New ride
Liam O’Meara secured third place with Oaks Espionage, when they kept all the poles in place in 43.50. Owned by his wife Helen Sheridan and bred by Oak Sport Horses, the 11-year-old gelding is by Emerald Van’T Ruytershof and is out of the Clearway-sired dam, Oaks Milky Way.
This is also a new ride for O’Meara, taking over the reins in July and claiming the 1.35m Glenn Wood Grand Prix at their first registered event. In August, they went on to claim fourth in the Hollypark Stables Munster Grand Prix, and second in the Munster Grand Prix in Maryville.
Sven Hadley’s clear with the eight-year-old, Maximum Numero Too HSH in 43.71 saw them secure fourth place. This combination has proved very consistent at this level and, as a result of a good spring season, they went on to be crowned the 2026 TRM Spring Tour Champions. Bred by Eamonn McArdle, this gelding is by Aganix Du Seigneur and is out of the Numero Uno mare Couple of Diamonds.
Fifth place belonged to Robert Splaine and Laranco when they lodged a clear in 52.88. Owned by Sandra Devine, the 10-year-old gelding is by Bustique and is out of the Garanco-sired dam, Aranca. This pairing took third in the National Grand Prix in Mullingar in August.
Cian McMunn completed the top six line-up, when he took sixth with Lisboy Emerald. Owned by his mother Breda, the 12-year-old gelding was bred by Michael McDonagh and is by Emerald Van’T Ruytershof and is out of the Lux Z-sired dam Hollypark Lux Alright.
