Preview
AS the foal season moves into full swing, next week’s renewal at Goresbridge offers a broad but reduced catalogue of 308 yearlings, broodmares and foals. Among these are some beautifully-related blacktype show jumping and event foals, as well as a fair number bred on traditional lines. Among the obvious standouts are siblings to top level horses of both disciplines, including a brother to Sea Plus (1.50m), Greenacres Special Touch (CCI4*) and Knockalough Poet (1.50m).
Looking at the covering sires, Derryglen Stud’s Kafka Van de Heffinck (BWP) easily heads the list with 13 progeny on offer, while also well represented are Call Me Number One (8) and Durango (7).
The pedigrees have improved hugely over the past decade and, while this may be optimistic, it is to be hoped that breeders may finally begin to reap the rewards.
Both Friday and Saturday offer standouts, just a few of which are detailed below.
