1.40 Irish EBF Maiden (Smullen Series) (2yo) 1m
Iveagh House should be winning if confirming previous form with Selosse. They were separated by a length and a quarter when finishing fourth and fifth respectively on their debut runs in a very strong maiden over seven furlongs at the Curragh in August.
That’s a nice edge to begin with, and he’s also far more favourably drawn for their second clash.
They’ll likely dominate ahead of Island Bloom, running on when third to Diamonds And Dames and the luckless Dawnmore, again seven furlongs, here last month.
SELECTON: IVEAGH HOUSE
Next best: Selosse
2.15 M.L.A Engineering Ltd. Supporting Ardclough GAA Maiden 1m
Zelani shaped up well on his debut at Navan in March and was better again when just touched off by the well-fancied favourite Storm Ready on his reappearance over this distance at the Listowel Festival.
The latter’s stablemate Ridersinthesky boasted a rating of 93 when a fair fourth in a Group 3 at the Curragh in August of last year.
She’s dropped down in the ratings since and might just be up against it on her first start since April. Tax Me Later went close in a Gowran Park claimer last month and showed up well enough for new connections in a maiden at Bellewstown just last week, with the runner-up that day a winner since.
SELECTON: ZELANI
Next best: Ridersinthesky
2.50 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Birdcatcher Premier Nursery Handicap (2yo) 5f 205yd
Oristown Boy went close over seven furlongs on soft ground at Down Royal in June and then made the breakthrough over that same distance at the Galway Festival. Now taking a significant drop in trip for his first start in a handicap after a couple of runs over a mile, he might again go well if able to race from the front.
There was a nice ease in the ground when Pink Venom won well over this distance at Cork.
She’s chasing a third straight handicap win after earlier scoring on a much quicker surface at Fairyhouse. Lar’s Soldier is also a dual winner with his first success coming in testing conditions at the Curragh in April.
SELECTON: ORISTOWN BOY
Next best: Pink Venom
3.28 RFL Steels Stakes (Listed Race) 5f 205yd
La Brodeuse made bold bids from the front when third to the better-fancied three-year-olds Pivotal Attack and subsequent Listowel listed winner Meriden in the seven-furlong Listed Corrib Stakes at the Galway Festival, and again when third in a six-furlong Group 3 at Deauville a month later.
Certainly not as good at Ayr last time, perhaps she can bounce back to beat Bamako Beach, who has been gelded since his below-par effort at Longchamp a month ago and is now tried in a visor for the first time. He backed up his maiden win with a comfortable success at Cork and looks a bigger threat than Thunderbear, Tango Flare and the Curragh legend Big Gossey, first, second and fifth respectively in this last year.
SELECTON: LA BRODEUSE
Next best: Bamako Beach
4.08 Naas Farm Machinery Handicap 5f
Bounty went well for a new team on his return at the Curragh two weeks ago, his first start since finishing a close-up fourth in this race last year.
A two-year-old winner here, he’s entitled to improve on his recent effort behind the well-supported Red Evolution, and might yet turn things around with Cuban Grey and his own stable companion Keke.
Conditions will again favour last year’s winner Stag Night, also successful over the near six-furlong trip at this meeting in 2023.
Bay Of Supremacy, another with proven course form, had his first outing since May at Bellewstown 10 days ago and can also improve.
SELECTON: BOUNTY
Next best: Bay Of Supremacy
4.40 WTW Willis Fillies Maiden 7f
Elmakaya has run her two best races here, most recently in late June when just behind Moonlit Sun, a recent listed race winner in France. She must be better than last month’s Navan effort and there’s no sign now of the tongue-tie she wore for the first time that day.
Justiciar started favourite for the Curragh maiden won by Diamond Necklace in August of last year. Now minus the blinkers she carried when last seen in May, she could have her supporters as might Therewillbeglory, who has finished second on seven occasions, including in this race last year, and most recently in a Curragh handicap over six furlongs.
SELECTON: ELMAKAYA
Next best: Therewillbeglory
5.15 Naas Racecourse Handicap 7f
Storm Ready makes plenty of appeal as the least-exposed runner on his handicap debut.
He was the strongly-supported winner of an eight-furlong maiden at the Listowel Festival on his first run, making light of his relative inexperience to hold Zelani, a contender in this afternoon’s second race, by a neck.
He might just follow up at the main expense of Zenford, who could have been unsuited by quick ground at Leopardstown in July. Soft ground also helps Key Witness, another returning from a summer break.
SELECTON: STORM READY
Next best: Zenford
